The PK54™ dining table is a study in contrasting materials and forms. Stone meets wood, hard meets soft and the table completely changes expression without loosing its identity when the concentric wooden leaves are applied to the table. Simple yet distinguished, PK54™ has the typical Poul Kjærholm style in an exclusive and minimalist design. A solid and functional table which seats up to 6 people, PK54™ is also available with an optional solid maple expansion ring that interlocks without any tools. Once the ring is added, the table seats 12.
Poul Kjærholm had a particular interest in various construction materials; especially steel, which he considered a natural material. He was a trained carpenter who continued studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He moved on to work at Fritz Hansen for about a year where he designed a number of noteworthy chair prototypes. In 1955, Kjærholm started collaborating with manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, which lasted until his death in 1980. In 1982, Fritz Hansen took over the production and sales of "The Kjærholm Collection." Developed from 1951 to 1967, designs of this collection are logical to the most minute detail.

- The exquisite, light colored Italian marble originates from the area around the city of Carrara in Tuscany, Northern Italy. The marble with its beautiful classic grain is named Bianca Carrara, after the colour and the city. The surface of the tabletop is steel-rolled and the edges are sandblasted.
