OW149 Colonial Chair

Ole Wanscher, 1949

OVERVIEW

Ole Wanscher designed the iconic Colonial Chair in 1949 but it wasn't until the mid-1950's that the chair was put in to production by the Danish cabinetmaker, PJ Furniture.  The name of the chair, Colonial, refers to Wanscher's fascination with 17th century English furniture design.  A beautiful easy chair with a simple and refined expression, Colonial is ideal for rooms where lightness and flexibility are desired.

In 1958, the Danish newspaper Politiken wrote that "Owning a Wanscher chair is an adventure every day, and will be so even several hundred years from now, for this is how long it lasts."
