Bowl No. 1

PlueerSmitt, 2014

Design duo PlueerSmitt consistently release items that play tricks on our eyes, or encourage the viewer to question their own understanding of an object's construction. Bowl No. 1 consists of two shapes, representing the symbiotic relationship between different forms. On top, a ceramic dome with an added rectangular shape to give the dome a sense of direction, and hint at its actual function as a lid. Underneath the lid is a small bowl that serves as storage for treasures. PlueerSmitt has created an intriguing symbiosis where one shape becomes the other shapes handle.
