WOMEN IN DESIGN – Part 1

March 09, 2016

This week, in honor of International Women’s Day, SUITE NY recognizes the achievements of women in our industry. Architecture and design has historically been a boy’s club. However, beginning around the turn of the century, there emerged a handful of trailblazing women, such as the late Greta Grossman, who pioneered new methods and technologies while pushing forward her own sense of modernity. From there, contemporary icons like Patricia Urquiola and Monica Förster have earned their place the pages of design history. Still predominantly male, our industry is more eager than ever to welcome deserving women into this elite club. With new talent emerging every day, such as rising star Olivia Herms, we can’t wait to see the work of the next generation.
