MATEK |
Mater |
Through years of research and testing, Mater invented a unique patented material called Matek, which is made by combining post-industrial plastic waste with a fiber like coffee bean shells or sawdust. The mix of materials results in a unique compound suitable for press moulding. Matek offers a unique tactility and materiality with features that resemble timeless materials like stone, terrazzo or even marble. Featured here in the Eternity Side Chair, Matek is water-repellent and highly durable, and is considered in line with wood, stone, plastic or any other raw material. |

CONSCIOUS COLLECTION |
Børge Mogensen and Esben Klint |
The materiality of Matek is the inspiration for newer designs like the reimagined classic design of the Conscious Chair and Table. Conscious Chair 3162 was designed in 1958 by the renowned Danish furniture designer and architect Børge Mogensen and Esben Klint. The chair is made of FSC wood and Mater Circular Materials, where an innovative technology allows us to recycle fiber-based waste materials with recycled plastic waste from GROHE. It is the first time that a Børge Mogensen design has been relaunched in a different material than the original. Shown here in coffee waste light and available in three versions. |

OCEAN COLLECTION |
Jørgen & Nanna Ditzel |
The Ocean collection was originally designed in 1955 by some of the 20th century’s most renowned designers, Jørgen and Nanna Ditzel. Recently reimagined, Mater combines innovative solutions to prevent pollution of the world’s oceans by creating the new tables and chairs using recycled ocean fishing nets. One Ocean Chair uses 960g of ocean plastic waste. The series is characterized by its light structure with repeated slats and metal frames, made and tested for outdoor use. The Ocean collection is designed for disassembly, meaning that the design allows each component in its purest form to upcycle into new production circles. Steel frame with a gunmetal finish. |

NESTOR CHAIR COLLECTION |
Tom Stepp |
Nestor means ‘the noblest and – implicitly the wisest’ and exemplifies how genuine materials and emphasis on comfort create great design. Inspired by the classic shaker traditions, the Nestor chair is shaped to fit the human body and designed with careful attentions to detail. Like all wood products from Mater, the Nestor Chair Collection is made from FSC certified wood. The handwoven paper cord used on the seats is also FSC certified and biodegradable. The collection consists of both side chairs and armchairs, available in four color combinations. |

MATER + SPACE COPENHAGEN |
Space Copenhagen |
Over the course of years, Mater and Danish design studio Space Copenhagen have collaborated on developing numerous design classics such as the Mater High Stool, The Accent Table series and more recently The Dining Chair, The Lounge Chair and The High Stool Backrest. All designs draw on the same typology – a beautiful, fluid organic design that comes across as both sculptural and minimalistic. Space Copenhagen’s signature style is evident in all pieces, balancing opposites – classic and modern, industrial and organic, sculptural and minimal, light and shade. |
