INTERIOR DESIGN: Smilow Design

June 11, 2015

Along with warmer weather, June ushers in Interior Design magazine’s highly-anticipated Spring Market Guide. Featured in the publication’s renowned edit is a full page on our very own American mid-century furniture collection, Smilow Design.

Originally founded in the 1950s as Smilow-Thielle, Smilow Design was relaunched in 2012 by Judy Smilow, daughter of the late designer Mel Smilow. The company has since re-issued many of Smilow’s classic designs including the Classic Rocking Chair made of solid ash; the Rail Back Armchair and matching ottoman made of solid walnut and available in customizable fabrics and leathers; the Woven Rush Lounge in solid walnut with hand-woven seat and back; the WLC 22 Woven Leather Armchair and matching ottoman with leather strapping; and lastly, the C3000 Credenza, a three-door cabinet and leather-lined drawers. Smilow’s design legacy carries on in these well-crafted mid-century pieces that uphold a level craftsmanship, aesthetics, and functionality that live up to their distinction as enduring, modern classics.
