With imm Cologne opening in just a few days, we thought this would be a great opportunity to share a little information about the world’s second largest furniture fair.
An international, public furniture trade show, imm Cologne is held at Koelnmesse exhibition center every year in January. The “imm” stands for Internationalen Möbelmesse, meaning “international furniture fair” in German.
The exhibition’s primary focus is contemporary furniture and interior design, but also showcases innovative materials and fabrics and latest architectural lighting design technology. Second only to the Salone del Mobile at Milan, imm Cologne is regarded as a leading market place for related industries, i.e. furniture designers, furniture companies, furniture retailers, architects and interior designers. The fair averages around 1,000 exhibitors from 50 countries and attracts over 100,000 visitors annually. For SUITE NY, imm Cologne has always been a hotbed for finding fresh new talent and design from emerging manufacturers.
The fair was first held in 1949 and is organized each year by the Verband der Deutschen Möbelindustrie e.V. Since the late 1990s, the city of Cologne stages several events in conjunction with imm, namely Cologne Design Week and Interior Design Week. Other groups include Design Champs and the international D3 Design Talents, with workshops for both young design professionals and design students.
This year’s fair runs January 13th-19th, 2013. We invite you to visit the booths of some of SUITE New York‘s best-selling brands: GUBI, Zeitraum, Verzelloni and Woodnotes.
Stay tuned on what hot new products launch at this year’s fair!
