Rugs have a unique capability to make a room feel complete. Oftentimes, even the most elegantly designed space can feel unfinished without a rug to tie everything together. The right combinations of texture, pattern, shape and size will allow a rug to elevate an ordinary room into something extraordinary and inviting, changing the tone for an entire space. This week, we’re highlighting five stunning carpets to adorn the floors of any room.
Hanna Korvela
Duetto was designer Hanna Korvela’s international breakthrough. The recipient of the prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best award, Duetto is made of a harmonious combination of cotton and paper yarn, whose qualities and textures compliment each other beautifully. Simple and minimalist, Duetto retains a unique sense of warmth that elevates any environment into an inviting space, and represents Korvela’s illustrious career designing contemporary rugs. Hand-woven in Finland and designed for reversible use, Duetto is available in a wide range of colors.
Woodnotes Design Team
Grid is a warm and inviting hand-woven rug. The pattern which gives the rug its name adds character, and its bi-colored design creates a playful sense of space and depth. Each corner is decorated with a braided wool fringe, which can be removed if desired. Like most of Woodnotes' collection, Grid is versatile enough to fit beautifully in both traditional and contemporary environments, and its unique pattern adds personality and expression wherever it is placed. Grid is made of 90% wool and 10% cotton, and available in four different sizes for increased personalization and versatility.
Salem Van Der Swaagh
Just one look at the SVS Rugs, and it’s clear this design is something special. Each rug is hand-woven, ensuring that none is exactly the same as another, creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. The elegant combination of textures, elegant pearl color, and fringed edges harmoniously define a rug that feels both timeless and contemporary, and feels tasteful in spaces of any style and size. The SVS Rugs are designed and hand woven in Berlin, using 100% salvaged material from industrial weaving which is then repurposed into highly textured, luxurious wool products.
All The Way To Paris
Inspired by the qualities of a gemstone, Moor has a distinctive shimmer and almost appears to be made of velvet. Moor is versatile enough to work beautifully in any environment, from bedrooms to lounges, or offices and retail spaces. “We wanted to focus solely on the shapes, colours and textures – without any patterns,” notes Tanja Vibe and Petra Olsson Gendt, founders and partners at All The Way To Paris. “For us, a rug brings all the elements of a room together in harmony, creating a feeling of closeness.” The result is a compelling sense of cohesion, especially when you arrange all the rugs together as a cluster. Available in an exciting range of shapes and colors, the Moor Rug is certain to add a touch of fun and elegance to any space.
Ritva Puotila

Aapa’s innovative structure allows you to leave a soft footprint wherever you step, as if you were walking on sand. Unique from other rugs by Ritva Puotila for Woodnotes, Aapa places a greater emphasis on texture, proving that when it comes to rugs, this collaboration is capable of just about anything. Available in white, stone, warm-grey, black-gold, or black. Aapa is made-to-measure and can be square, rectangular, or round.
