We’re so thrilled to have Artek as part of our collection—exciting shapes, innovative concepts, and sustainable materials have made this quintessential Finnish brand a distinctive identity. Their designs by iconic founding designers Alvar and Aino Aalto, as well as contemporary designers such as Ronan & Erwan Boroullec, are capable of instantly modernizing a space. This week, we’re excited to highlight five extraordinary items from our friends at Artek.
Alvar Aalto
“Relax and unwind” takes on an elevated meaning in Lounge Chair 43. An exploration of the possibilities of bentwood manufacturing, the design tactfully showcases the stability and flexibility offered by birch lamella, which allows for curves and bends comparable in strength to tubular steel, but with an added warmth. The linen webbing adds a tasteful new texture and dimension, and lends to an even more restful experience with Lounge Chair 43. Webbing available in black, black/blue, black/brown, natural/black, natural/white, and natural/red.

Some designs have an instantly striking quality about them, effortlessly transforming a space and leaving a lasting impression—Armchair 401 is one such design. Through masterful construction and elegant design, Armchair 401 is a simply beautiful chair. The high back is designed with ergonomics in mind, the sprung seat, winged headrest, and curved armrests—formed from a single piece of wood—define a chair that is equally pleasing to use and look at. Birch frame available in clear lacquer, black lacquer, walnut stain, or honey stain.
Ronan & Erwan Boroullec
Our expectations for both home offices and traditional workplace has changed, and if you’re looking to propel your workspace into the 21st century, look no further than the Kaari Desk. Designed by Paris-based brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Kaari has a light, fluid outline. The desk’s twin oak pillars are supported by the simple yet elegant steel band that characterizes the entire Kaari collection. Wonderfully contemporary, this desk provides the ideal place to work and is suitable for both private and public spheres.
Ilmari Tapiovaara
This distinctive table is formed from three sheets of pressed birch veneer, and nothing more. Designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara in the 1950s, the design still feels forward-thinking 70 years later—the hexagonal tabletop is supported by three triangular legs, while seams between the pieces create a beautiful pattern. Lightweight and easy to transport, the Trienna table tows the line between midcentury appeal while also feeling refreshingly modern, capable of adding distinct style to any space.

Konstantin Grcic
Playful and minimalist, Konstantin Grcic’s Rival Chair represents a fresh approach to the wooden chair. The design features a refined interplay between different shapes, materials, and negative space. Rival features a swivel function for added convenience, establishing a design that is equally suited for the office, dining room, or even a children’s room. Legs, armrest, and backrest available with white, asphalt, or silver birch lacquer.
